Detoxing Your STUFF

For me, detoxing also involves eliminating clutter. Diagnosed with ADHD in childhood, I've always understood the necessity of maintaining an organized environment due to my naturally disorganized mind. However, maintaining that organization is a daily endeavor. Another key aspect of detoxifying my life is removing unnecessary items.
I am tackling one small area at a time. Today, I began with my makeup drawer. Over the years, I've discovered that the most effective way for me to handle these tasks is to remove everything from the space. At this stage, I don't sort or examine anything; I simply place it in a pile. Then, I clean the area, which in this case involved wiping down the drawer.
After that, I returned items to their places individually. I have an organizer for my drawer that aids in maintaining some order, so I put it back into the freshly cleaned drawer. Then, I lifted each item one by one and asked myself three questions in this sequence.
Do I need this?
Do I like this?
Do I use this?
This took me less than 10 minutes and I didn't need to buy anything. Just cleaning this one drawer made me feel accomplished and ready to tackle my day!
