Face Serum - I used to rely on Jan Marini for my entire skincare routine. After finishing those products over the month, I decided to try serums from Andalou Naturals. I was already using their tinted moisturizer, so I figured I'd give their serums a shot. They offer a wide range of health and beauty products. Yuka rates most of their products as good or excellent, but make sure to verify your specific choice before purchasing. Besides being non-toxic, the best part is their affordability, with prices ranging from $15 to $30. Currently, they are offering a spring sale with 25% off sitewide using the code SpringGlow25.

Candles - I'm currently using my final B&BW 3-wick candle! I'm on the hunt for non-toxic alternatives, but many I've found are pricey, and I'm not ready to invest just yet. I'll update you once I try some.

Meanwhile, I've started using Azuna. They offer glass jars with refillable gel packets that are non-toxic and purify the air. I tried the citrus scent and like it. My husband thinks it smells like a spa due to the tea tree oil. I love how easy these are and that they clean my air. They have tons of different scents and right now they are running a big springs sale with code MARCH25.

Dishwasher Detergent - At the start of the month, I replaced my Cascade pods with Molly Suds. I purchased my pack on Amazon for approximately $20. The pods function just like Cascade but are made with safe ingredients. I'm worried about the plastic casing around the pods, so I'm still searching for a safe, plastic-free option.

Toilet Paper - I've come across some alarming information regarding toilet paper. Many companies not only bleach their toilet paper, but they also treat it with formaldehyde! I've considered changing my toilet paper for some time, but I was concerned about how alternatives might affect my septic system. After researching, I discovered a brand that is septic safe and decided to try it. We've now switched to bamboo toilet paper. It cost $35 for a 12-pack on Amazon, so I'm still searching for a more affordable option.

Laundry Detergent - I had previously switched to Attitude, a fantastic nontoxic detergent, especially if you prefer liquid form. However, I was curious about other nontoxic options and discovered Blueland. They offer nontoxic tablets in a refillable tin (no plastic, hooray!). Simply toss a tablet into your washing machine and run your cycle as usual. I absolutely love them. This might be my favorite change so far. They save space, are free of toxins and plastic, and are effective! I ordered from their site, but they are now available at Costco! A tin with 60 tablets costs around $25. They also offer soaps and dishwasher pods that I’m eager to try.

Monthly takeaways:

  • I am really enjoying Andalou for health and beauty items.

  • I saved a lot of money this month because my new face serums are about $20 instead of $100!

  • Blueland Detergent tabs have been my favorite swap yet and I can't wait to try their other products.

  • The things I read about regular toilet paper were actually shocking and disturbing! If you are having any feminine issues I strongly urge you to look into switching your toilet paper. Here are a couple of good websites.
